Find the Village Elder
Use Skull Island in the teleport menu when that destination is available to your character. The Elder stands beside a tower ladder and stacked crates near the water. Interact with him to open Bells That Stopped Ringing, then choose Accept before heading toward the Fox Mages.
The pictured NPC prompt has a Lv 160–249 label. Read the prompt and availability in your own session rather than treating the screenshot as a permanent island-entry requirement. If you have not reached this part of the world, start with the shoreline beginner quests or Father Orin’s boss task.
Follow the active counter
Dialogue and counter can disagree
The pictured dialogue asks for five Fox Mages. The active Quest panel in the same walkthrough uses a four-target counter. Follow the target and completion shown by your active panel, rather than stopping solely because you remember a number from the dialogue.

This screenshot sequence shows why checking after the first kill matters. Confirm that your own counter changes, then continue with its remaining target. A static description and an active objective may not use the same number.
When kills do not register
- Confirm the task is active. Reopen the Quest panel and read its objective.
- Read the enemy name. Look for Fox Mage in the ruins, rather than an unrelated island enemy.
- Compare before and after. Check the counter once a target is defeated.
- Inspect Auto Quest. The panel has an Auto Quest toggle. Check its state when deciding what task you want active.
- Keep a useful bug report. If the same named target repeatedly gives no progress, include the task name and before/after counter in your question.
Use the game community links for a task-specific question. Include the active panel instead of only saying the island is broken.
Choose the next island task
A quest destination and a material destination can differ. If your immediate problem is a recipe shortage, use the Forge material island checklist to group your trip. If your problem is an unavailable spell, return to the Book Level checkpoint tool.
